ACCA Youth Mentorship Program 

Our Goal:
The Afro Canadian Caribbean Association’s “We Rise Youth Mentorship Program” aims to help black youth build confidence, develop skills for school/ work, while building cultural awareness and identity. Our goal is that the program will translate into larger community improvements as part of a more expansive movement toward increased equity and justice in our society.

Mentor Role and Requirements: *must be at least 18+ years of age to apply, criminal/vulnerable sector check is required

  • Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-on-one relationship by acting as a positive role model/friend (1 hour/week or 4-6 hrs./month)
  • Build a positive and supportive relationship by planning and participating in activities together
  • Strive for a positive relationship built on mutual respect and help the young person to build self-esteem while providing support and motivation
  • Help mentee to set goals and work towards the accomplishment of those goals

Mentee Role/Requirements: *must be between the ages of 12-16 yrs. to apply

  • Would like a supportive and positive mentor/leader to assist in personal goal setting (educational, life skills, career guidance)
